The soil model extends down to 2 m depth where the values for temperate and humidity are assumed to be constant over the simulation time.
The variables calculated in the soil model are the soil temperature and the soil water content.
The soil model is one dimensional except of the first grid point below the soil where the temperature is calculated 3 dimensional to avoid unrealistic sharp temperature gradients at the surface.
