What's new in ENVI-met V4
After about 6 years of developement, there is a huge list of new features introduced in ENVI-met V4.
Like always, ENVI-met V4 is free and comes along as a complete model including the full set of features. In addition to the free version (“ENVI-met Standard”), there is a Professional version and a Expert Version. The list below summarizes the basic differences between the 3 versions:
Standard Version
- Free
- Full ENVI-met Model, no limitations
- Complete software suite from database editing, over construction to results analysis and visualisation.
- Not restrictions is use
Professional Version
- Must be licensed
- Additional calculation modules (solar access, pollutant chemistry,…)
- Additional model output (building physics)
- More and comfortable options for analysing model results
Expert Version
- Not available for public, only for our research & consulting
- Coupling with large scale modells
- Further simulation modules (blue technologies, Plant Comfort Analysis PCAS, photocatalytic NOx degration,…)
- Next generation technologies, some of them future features of V5
New Features and changes
In this feature list below, features only included in the Professional or Expert version will be marked with “Prof” or “Xpert”. For the full model architecture description see also ENVI-met Model Architecture.
Model Geometry/ Model Features
- Full 3D model geometry allowing to design even complicated environments
- Thin single walls as elements
- Wall and roof materials can be assigned individually to each wall or roof segment
General model features
- Calculation of solar access for ground surface and builing walls (Prof)
- Simple Forcing allows to force temperature and humidity profils in 24 hourly values onto the model domain
Atmosphere
Vegetation
Soil-System
- Depth of soil system increased down to -5m
- Temperature exchange within the soil is full 3D in all layers now.
Buildings
- Facades and Roofs can consist of up to 3 different layers of material
- Full prognostic calculation of wall temperatures (7 node model)
- Building zone model for estimating building indoor temperature
- Detailed dynamic data of microclimate along the building envelope (Prof)
